QATAR 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Morocco and Guinea-Bissau, who are in the same group as the Super Eagles of Nigeria, will be the first two teams to land in Cote d’Ivoire for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023), according to the Confederation of African Football.
The two teams are scheduled to arrive today for the 24-team tournament that will kick off on Saturday and end on February 11.
Morocco, the 1976 champions, will be making their 19th appearance in the history of the championship.
Guinea-Bissau will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON 2023 tournament opener on Saturday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
Champions Senegal are billed to arrive in Cote d’Ivoire on Tuesday, while their Group F opponents Tanzania will land a day earlier.
Two-time champions DR Congo and 2012 winners Zambia are the other teams in their group.
Also due to arrive in Cote d’Ivoire on Tuesday are record seven-time winners Egypt and Mozambique.
The Nigeria Football Federation had earlier announced that the Super Eagles would be heading to Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday, four days before their opening match against Equatorial Guinea in Abidjan.
