A recent attack by suspected bandits today killed ten people and injured several others in Kukar Babangida village, Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina state.
Among those killed were Kukar Babangida Village Head Zauren Katsina and his four biological children.
Locals revealed that the bandits stormed the village about 1:30 a.m. today, when the majority of the residents were sound asleep.
According to reports, over 6,000 people live in this village, the majority of them are farmers and herders.
Kukar Babangida village has been one of the most vulnerable settlements in the state, dealing with banditry from its inception.
“Within a week, two bandit attacks were reported in the Jibia Local Government Council. One of the attacks occurred along the Jibia-Batsari axis, while the other occurred in the center of Jibia town itself, and both attacks resulted in the loss of life, a resident revealed.
The Katsina State Police Command was yet to react to the attack, as repeated phone calls made through to the Command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, went unanswered as of the time of filing this story.
