FIERY Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, arrived in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State even as heavily-armed security operatives occupied strategic positions in the town.
The activist, baked in the furnace of the internecine war between Ife and Modakeke, was received by hundreds of excited youth at Igangan Town Hall.
The Igboho-born fighter was seen in a viral video addressing the massive crowd comprising residents of Igangan, Tapa, Aiyete and neighbouring towns and villages in Ibarapaland.
He assured the crowd that the days of kidnapping and wanton killings by those suspected to be herdsmen would soon be over.
“Igboho” also insisted that the Seriki of Fulani must leave Igangan because he had been fingered so many times to be behind the insecurity in the area.
Sunday Igboho had last Friday stormed the Fulani settlements in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area and asked them to leave within seven days.
Before his arrival, there was palpable tension as the notice to quit given to herdsmen in the area expires today. Some youths were said to have made bonfires on the streets.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command had warned residents of the state against engaging in any act of lawlessness and violence in any part of the state.
The new Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, gave this warning in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi.
The police said four persons were injured when Igboho visited the place and the Fulani also allegedly waylaid farmers returning from their farms the same Friday night and hacked four of them.
Governor Seyi Makinde had on Wednesday in a state broadcast condemned the threat to evict the Fulani, while warning those behind the threat to desist or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
