THE combined forces of the 82 Division Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with the Nigerian Police and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, have successfully cleared multiple camps of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN) along Umulolo – Umukele – Amousu and Agbobu in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

The Army revealed in a statement yesterday that despite encountering Improvised Explosive Devices along the way, the troops were able to raid and dismantle the terrorists’ hideouts, as well as search various buildings used by the group.

During these operations, evidence of terrorist activities, occult practices, and acts of cannibalism were found.

Additionally, the troops destroyed the terrorist group’s Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making factory and recovered items such as rank badges of kidnapped policemen, Biafran currencies, fake US Dollar bills, Biafran Liberation Army T-shirts, and military kit bags, among other things.

Two suspects were arrested, and the charred remains of murdered policemen were recovered for proper burial.

In a separate incident in Owerri Metropolis, troops foiled a kidnapping attempt by suspected IPOB/ESN terrorists, recovering weapons and a vehicle used by the criminals.

Furthermore, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, visited the Isiuzo-Amufu community in Enugu State to address the people, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation and support for the military’s efforts to address insecurity in the region.

He also met with other security agencies in the area, urging continued collaboration and information sharing for improved security.

General Dada expressed gratitude for the support of other security agencies and encouraged the people of the South East region to provide timely, reliable, and credible information through the Emergency Line *193* by pressing 2.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of the people in the region while carrying out its constitutional duties within the confines of the law.
