THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be conducting elections in 80 Local Government Areas (LGAs) as 4.6 million voters participate in bye-elections and reruns across 26 states.

These elections are being held to fill vacancies in national and state assemblies due to members’ deaths or resignations, as well as to address rerun elections as ordered by election appeal tribunals.

The elections will take place in various constituencies and polling units, involving 4,904,627 registered voters, with 4,613,291 PVCs collected.

States where the elections will hold include: Ebonyi, Yobe, Kebbi, Lagos, Ondo, Taraba, Benue, Borno, Kaduna, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, and Anambra.

Others are Cross River, Delta, Enugu, Jigawa, Katsina, Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Kano, Nasarawa, Niger, Oyo, Sokoto and Zamfara.

The distribution of sensitive materials for the elections has been coordinated with the Nigerian Air Force to ensure a smooth process.

The Inspector-General of Police has also announced restrictions on vehicular and human movements in the affected areas on Election Day to facilitate the polls, with exemptions for essential services and accredited individuals.

Additionally, security aides to VIPs and escorts are prohibited from accompanying their principals and politicians to polling booths and collation centers during the election.
