ARSENAL fans have taken the opportunity of Alex Iwobi’s birthday to appeal to the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Fulham star for a big favour in the English Premier League title race.
Iwobi turned 28 today and most of the messages from Arsenal fans are about the title race as they ask their former player to help ensure Manchester City do not beat Fulham.
Arsenal lead the Premier League standings, one point ahead of Manchester City who have a game in hand, and the champions visit Fulham on Saturday next week.
The Gunners supporters feel Iwobi can make a difference against Pep Guardiola’s side to swing the race in his former club’s favour.
“Happy birthday, Iwobi. Do something for us please against City,” ‘Gunner Forever’ wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, today.
A big Arsenal fan account with over 300,000 followers, ‘Now Arsenal’ also joined in, writing: ‘Happy Birthday, @alexiwobi. You’ll be invited to the parade if you beat Manchester City for us.”
The official Arsenal account on X also wished Iwobi a happy birthday, with most of the replies speculating about how the Nigeria international can help the Gunners win their first Premier League title in 20 years.
“What a birthday present it would be for Alex Iwobi to score the winning goal for Fulham against Man City next week,” ‘KCGooner’ wrote, while ‘AzeezOseni4 responded with “I know what you’re doing Admin. Don’t worry he will do it for us against Manchester City. Happy birthday Alex.”
‘Agent Reliable’ wrote “Dear @alexiwobi, please beat City at Craven Cottage for the Arsenal,”, with ‘Gwenger2’ adding “Alex iwobi we love you, happy birthday to you. Please dent Man City chances for us.”
There are dozens more of such messages on social media today as Arsenal fans hope their club can stop City from a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Iwobi joined Arsenal as a kid in 2004 and made his senior debut in 2015, going on to make 149 appearances for the club with 15 goals and 24 assists.
He left Arsenal to join Everton in August 2019 and made the move to Fulham last September.
Iwobi has been in decent form at Fulham, registering five goals and two assists in 29 Premier League appearances.
