TROOPS from Operation Whirl Punch in the North-West zone killed four bandits, including the renowned Dongon Bangaje during battling patrols in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area.
According to Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the troops carried out the special fighting patrol at Tumburku village over the weekend.
They then projected the same to Sabon Sara, both in Giwa LGA.
He explained that, based on credible intelligence, the troops spotted bandits departing the latter site and pursued them.
During the process, the forces killed two bandits.
They retrieved a motorbike, a cell phone, petrol lighters, tobacco, various charms and a polythene bag holding petrol.
During a similar operation in Basurfe village, south-west of Kindandan, forces successfully neutralised two bandits and dislodged a camp used as treatment area for the insurgents.
Two AK-47 rifles, one pump action rifle, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two radios and one motorbike were discovered at the site, along with cigarettes, drugs and medical supplies were also recovered.
According to the security assessment, one of the bandits killed in the operations was Dogo Bangaje, a notorious bandit boss, who was killed together with an unidentified close associate.
