Pulse, Africa’s leading innovation media company, announced the launch of its first edition of the Pulse Influencer Awards in August this year. According to the company, the Influencer Awards is set up to recognize and highlight the bright lights of the space of influencers in Africa who are building engaged communities around their niche or craft.

Pulse is active in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Senegal, and the awards will be held in each of those markets, spanning a variety of categories and platforms.

Head of Marketing and Content Growth at Pulse, Kanyinsola Aroyewun, said the award is aimed at spotlighting the most consistent creators and also to help build the growth of digital media in Africa.

“The African media landscape, like the rest of the world, is changing quickly. Digital media is the new mainstream, and as such, the role of influencers in driving this change cannot be overemphasized.

“Our initiative is aimed primarily at engaging the influencer communities in each of our markets, highlighting the most consistent and impactful creators and ultimately also helping to strengthen the growth of digital media across Africa.”

The Pulse Influencer Awards will begin with an open nomination round from the community, afterwards, the selected influencers would be screened by the jury who would then choose 10 nominees based on the requirements for each category. Before the final award, nominees would go through two rounds of voting.

Some notable categories include fashion, media, music, photography, acting, etc. The Pulse Influencer Award is expected to create wide interest, engagement and reach on social media in all participating countries.

The headline sponsor of this maiden edition is Showmax, with other category sponsors
