Mrs Risikat Ajoke Adegeye, the wife of Juju music master King Sunny Ade, was laid to rest on Wednesday in Lagos.

Adegeye, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, died a few hours before her husband’s 75th birthday last week.

In the midst of tears, the lying-in-state and interment took place yesterday at Ebony Vaults and Gardens in Ikoyi, Lagos. Prior to this sympathizers gathered in Ikeja for a service of songs in her honour on Tuesday.

Her husband and son, George Folarin, are her only survivors.

Sunny Ade referred to his wife as a hero and a high achiever. Folarin also expressed grief over her death.

From 2011 to 2015, Adegeye served in the House of Assembly as the representative for Amuwo-Odofin Constituency 1. While in Amuwo Odofin Local Government, she ran for chairperson in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the deceased’s son, she was buried early as per her request. It was also revealed that the ‘celebration of life’ will take place on December 19.

May her soul rest in peace.
