SENIOR Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has advised Nigerians to stop being mischievous about issue of security adding that it requires collective and concerted efforts of all and sundry to tackle the myriads of problems confronting the country.
Garba Shehu, spoke on Monday while featuring on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme.
He added that the security agencies are doing their bits to rid the country of insecurity stressing that they lack the political will to quell the prevalent crisis.
He said, “We need to be appreciative of the enormous risks that our security people are facing, they are making it possible for you and I to sleep well because they are exposing themselves on the frontline.
“So, for everybody to say there is no political will, is anybody complaining? Is the IG of police saying he is unable to do his job because he doesn’t have political support? This president allows you to do your job.”
Reacting to the president’s silence on the herdsmen attacks on farmers and residents of host communities in the country which has been interpreted as complicity in some quarters, Shehu said his principal is not a “showman” adding that Buhari believes action speaks louder than words.
He said, “When Femi Adesina or myself speaks for the president, people should accept that it is the president that is speaking. For this president, it is the actions that should speak for him; he (Buhari) is not a showman, he doesn’t have to be there.”
“People should not personalise the issue. This country has problems, it requires the involvement of everyone, all hands must be on the deck to solve these problems –community leaders have a role, senators have a role, everyone has a role,” he added.
This is the second time within a week that President’s aide would be defending his refusal to address the nation on the herdsmen crisis.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Demi Adesina had last week said the President can not be reacting to every issue adding that doing so will make him ” a talkative president “.
