KWARA: I won’t dignify ‘impostor’ Nabena’s comments with response – Lai Mohammed

MINISTER of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has described Yekini Nabena an “impostor” for parading himself as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mohammed said this following a statement credited to Nabena over the ongoing APC registration and revalidation exercise.

Mohammed said the current setup of the APC doesn’t recognise Nabena as the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary.

The minister, had  on Monday, faulted the ongoing All Progressive Congress (APC) party registration, and revalidation exercise in Kwara State stating that it didn’t follow the guidelines from party’s national leadership among other reasons.

But Nabena in a prompt reaction,  told the minister to put himself in the position of the governor and submit to his leadership of the party in Kwara.

Nabena’s intervention, obviously did not go down well with Lai Mohammed and the minister replied him in a statement, issued on Tuesday morning, titled, “Nabena’s statement on Kwara APC membership registration: I won’t respond to an impostor.”

The statement read, “My attention has been drawn to the statement credited to one Yekini Nabena, who was described as the on the ongoing APC Membership Registration in Kwara State.

“The said Nabena must have been speaking for himself, as the APC National Caretaker Committee, as presently constituted, has no position like that of Deputy National Publicity Secretary.

“As part of the resolutions from its last meeting in Abuja on Dec. 8th 2020, the APC NEC approved the immediate dissolution of the party organs at the polling units, wards, local government, states and zonal levels as well as the non-National Working Committee component of the NEC, and the immediate reconstitution and composition of the dissolved EXCOs to serve in their respective offices in a caretaker committee capacity, but excluding the non-NWC members of NEC.

“As things stand, therefore, anyone claiming to be the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC is an impostor, hence I will not dignify such a pretender with a response.”

Laid Mohammed and the governor of Kwara State AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq have been at loggerheads over the leadership of the ruling party in the state.

The frosty relationship became worse recently when their loyalists fought dirty publicly by calling one another unprintable names.
