THE new head coach of the Super Falcons Randy Waldrum has finally signed his contract to make the appointment official.
The 64-year-old American signed his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday, as he started his work with the nine-time African women’s champions.
The ceremony took place at the Super Falcons’ Emir Hotels abode in Antalya, Turkey, where the Super Falcons are camped for the Turkish Women’s Cup.
NFF President Amaju Pinnick expressed confidence in Waldrum to propel the Super Falcons to a higher level in women’s football globally.
“We believe that Mr Waldrum is the right man to take the Super Falcons from where the team presently is to that higher level that we want it to be,” Pinnick told the NFF media team.
“We have been champions of Africa on nine occasions and it is time that we move up to competing stoutly for honours at the global level.”
General Secretary of the NFF, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, signed on behalf of the NFF.
The body’s executive committee member Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, Chairman of the Women’s Football Committee, Alhaja Ayo Omidiran, and Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen were also at the ceremony.
The Turkish Women’s Cup Tournament, also known as the Alanya Gold City Cup, is Waldrum’s first outing with the reigning African champions.
Pinnick explained that Waldrum, who is also head coach of University of Pittsburgh women’s football team, would be officially unveiled at a ceremony as soon as he is in Nigeria.
