LAGOS: CP redeploys DPO, senior officers over violation of Covid-19 regulations in division

THE State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has redeployed a Divisional Police Officer and some senior officers for allowing night clubbing in their area.

The DPO of the Ajao Estate Division and the officers were redeployed for allowing club activity at Garbana Club on Sunday.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Adejobi Olumuyiwa, 41 persons were arrested at the club by the Lagos Police Command.

 “Lagos CP Fires DPO, Officers for Allowing Clubbing in Their Area. DPO Ajao Estate Division and his senior officers in the Division have been redeployed for allowing night clubbing at Garbana Club on Sunday. The command had arrested 41 clubbers at the club btw 1.40am and 2.30am.”

Adedoji stressed the Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Odumosu,  warned others to learn and desist from the negligence of the DPO Ajao Estate as any DPO who promotes violation of Covid-19 protocols will be “fired” and sanctioned departmentally.

This came barely 24 hours after the   Lagos State Safety Commission  sealed  11 events centres, nightclubs and lounges.

The Director-General of the Commission, Lanre Mojola announced the development.

According to him, the number of persons approved for the events centres was outnumbered with what the officials met on the ground when they visited the places at the weekend.

He said that those facilities were sealed for non-compliance with Covid-19 Health Protection Regulations of the State and Federal Government

The facilities sealed are: DNA Victoria Island, Twist Lounge Kofo Abayomi Victoria Island, Carlsbad Lounge Adeniyi Jones Ikeja and Darts Event Centre, Grammar School, Ifako Ijaiye were sealed by the state.

The event centres, bars and lounges sealed include UBC Club, VGC, Sapearz Lounge, Awolowo road, Ikoyi, Bravo event centre, Ogba, Ronite Event Centre, Iju Road, Agege.

The other centres sealed are All Season Event Centre, Ipaja, OlaideAdeoluwa Memorial Hall, Carabana Lounge/Bar Isolo, Ajao Estate.
