FCT: Police arrest suspected kidnappers, recover AK-47, others in Abuja

THE State Command has arrested five suspects at  Kuje and Daki-biu who are allegedly linked to the recent kidnappings at Kiyi Village, Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, the suspects were arrested during coordinated intelligent operations by operatives from Dawaki Division and the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad which spanned three days; March 26-28, 2021.

The all-male suspects identified as Abdullahi Haruna, Haruna Musa, Iliyasu Adamu, Micheal Paul and Salisu Abdullahi, confessed to supplying logistics to the kidnap syndicate operating in Kiyi Village.

The statement noted that two AK-47 rifles, one Bajaj motorcycle and thirty rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

Mariam, revealed that an effort is underway to arrest other members of the syndicate.

The statement read, “All the suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

“On this note, the Command urges residents to remain calm while reaffirming its unflinching commitment to rid the FCT of every form of criminality and protect the lives and property of residents.
