ANAMBRA: Gunmen release commissioner abducted during Soludo’s attack

AFTER spending four days in the clutches of his abductors, the state Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, has been released.

Ezenwanne was abducted on Wednesday during an attack on a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Chukwuma Soludo, which left three police officers dead.

Soludo was attacked at Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area, during an interactive session between him and some Isuofia youth.

The former Governor of CBN is one of the frontline aspirants for the November 6 Anambra Governorship election on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Ezenwanne was reportedly kidnapped after scaling the fence in an attempt to escape, but ran into the gunmen.

, “I just spoke to the commissioner now. He has been freed, and he is in good health too,”, a source told Daily Post.

“He denied paying any ransom, and also told me that his abductors did not maltreat him in anyway.”

It was gathered that Ezenwanne was released at about 1a.m on Easter day.

Soludo, who described the killing of his police orderlies as “senseless”, had appealed to the Ezewanne’s abductors to release in the spirit of Easter celebrationsin the wake of the attack.
