*Promises more legislative support
LAGOS State House of Assembly (LSHA) Committee on Security, Information and Strategy, has commended the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) for its efforts at ensuring the security of lives and property in the state.
The committee chairman, Setonji David, gave the commendation during the committee’s visit to the agency’s headquarters at Multi-Agency Complex, Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos, noting that since the creation of the LNSA, it has performed creditably well.
David stated that despite the teething problems encountered by the agency at inception, the state assembly is proud to have supported the establishment of the agency, pledging that the assembly will continue to render all necessary assistance to LNSA in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
Also speaking, another member of the committee, Nurudeen Solaja-Saka, appreciated officers of the agency for doing a good job as regards the policing of Lagos communities, adding that the LNSA requires more support from the government.
He advised the agency to put more efforts into collaborating with relevant stakeholders, especially local councils for necessary support, while imploring it to do a proper presentation of its budget so as to get better funding from the state government as well as through other approved avenues.
In the same vein, another committee member, Jude Emeka Idimogu lauded the LNSA for contributing immensely to the security architecture of the state, urging the agency to clarify grey areas hindering its operations.
Earlier in his address, General Manager of LNSA, Barr. Adegboyega Bajulaiye briefed the committee on its operations, achievements and challenges.
He expressed gratitude to the committee for the visit, describing it as a morale booster which will also serve as a form of encouragement to the staff of the agency to improve their performance.
The General Manager revealed that the agency is collaborating with relevant government establishments to get better welfare package for active LNSC operatives and adequate compensation for those who have died or lost their lives while in active service.
He appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for his immense support for the agency and promised that the agency will continue to engage in activities that will promote the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the current administration.
