LAWYERS under the aegis of the Nigerian Bar Association have cast their wigs and gowns aside and poured into the streets to protest the  non-implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary in Lagos State and Abuja

This is coming days after  members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria went on strike and threatened a nationwide protest.

The  National President of NBA, Olumide Akpata, had asked all state branches to stage a protest on Monday.

During the protest in Lagos, the lawyers displayed placards with various inscriptions as they marched from Ikeja Bar Centre through Oba Akinjobi, into Obafemi Awolowo Way towards the Alausa secretariat.

Members of JUSUN have remained resolute in their demand for financial autonomy as they have  spurned efforts by state governors, Chief Justice of the Federation among other eminent Nigerians to make them suspend the strike.
