Oshoala’s Barcelona overcome PSG, to face Chelsea in Women’s Champions League final

SUPER Falcons captain Asisat Oshoala was a second-half substitute on Sunday as Barcelona Femeni defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 to advance to the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.

Lieke Martens scored both Barcelona goals in the first half to give the Spanish side a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Marie-Antoinnete Katoto pulled one back for PSG in the second half but they were not able to get the second goal that would have sent them through.
Oshoala, who only recently returned from injury, replaced Aitana Bonmati in the 79th minute and almost scored Barcelona’s third goal, forcing a smart save from the PSG goalkeeper Christiane Endler.

Barcelona’s home form has been crucial to them reaching the final, having won all of their previous 18 home games in all competitions this season.

They have won all of their competitive home games since losing to Sporting de Huelva in Feb 2019.

Oshoala played a big part in Barcelona reaching the final after scoring in both legs of the quarter-finals against Manchester City.

Barcelona will face Chelsea in the final after the English club defeated Bayern Munich 5-3 on aggregate in their semi-final.

Chelsea won 4-1 in London on Sunday to overturn Bayern’s 2-1 win in the first leg in Germany.

The final is billed for Gothenburg, Sweden on 16 May.
