THE Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Professor Godswill Obioma, was last night killed in his home in Minna, the Niger State capital.
According to his wife, Elizabeth Obioma, “The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything.”
Elizabeth, distraught by the gruesome incident, said her husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the armed men, lurking in his compound, descended on him and strangled him.
The police, however, is yet to react to the news.
Obioma, 67, from Abia State, was appointed head of NECO barely a year ago on May 14, 2020.
The incident came barely a day after a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Gulak, was gunned down in Owerri, raising widespread fears of insecurity.
