BARCELONA have signed Eric Garcia from Manchester City, the Spanish club announced on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old defender is the second player from Manchester City Barcelona are acquiring on a free transfer following the arrival of Sergio Aguero on Monday.
The club value their new player so much that any team willing to take him from them will have to pay €400m.
“Barcelona and Eric Garcia have reached an agreement for the player to join the Club from 1 July once his contract with Manchester City is at an end,” the Spanish giants stated.
“The player will sign a contract until the end of the 2025/26 season and his buy out clause is set at 400 million euros.”
Garcia, who is in Spain’s European Championship squad, will be formally presented later on Tuesday as a Barça player.
The defender had initially joined the Barcelona Academy in 2008 as a six-year-old and was there until 2017 when he left for Manchester City where he spent four seasons playing for the U-19s, U-23s and the first team.
He made his senior debut for Manchester City at the age of just 17 in a Carabao Cup game against Leicester City in December 2018.
Garcia went to play in both legs of the semi-final against Burton Albion in the same competition later that season.
In total he made more than 30 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s team.
