GERNOT Rohr has claimed that Super Eagles players are keen to beat Cameroon on Friday.
The two not-so-friendly neighbours play the first of two friendly games in Vienna, Austria, on Friday as they both prepare for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Despite the unpaid entitlements crisis brewing in the team’s camp, Rohr insists the players are not distracted.
“The players are well motivated,” the head coach told the Super Eagles media team in Vienna.
“They want to do well. The training sessions have been good. They are happy to come together again.”
The German coach believes the timing of the friendly games is perfect.
“The last time we played was in March,” Rohr explained. “We have two victories against Benin and Lesotho. Now we are in June. This is the last preparation for us. We have the AFCON draw at the end of June.
“Then in September, October and November, we have the World Cup qualifiers. So this is the preparation before the World Cup which is very important.
“The players want to do well to be in the squad for the World Cup qualifiers.”
The Super Eagles are unbeaten in their last five fixtures and undefeated against Cameroon since 2000.
