THE Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda, has advised a group of eight members of the All Progressives Congress led by Senator Tony Adeniyi, to withdraw their allegations of interference with judicial processes against Governor Kayode Fayemi.
This followed intervention of the national caretaker committee of the party in the crisis rocking the Ekiti chapter of the APC on Friday.
Naija Times had reported how the Ekiti State APC SEC suspended Senator Babafemi Ojudu and nine other members of the party for instituting litigations against Governor Fayemi.
The suspension led to a counter suspension of Fayemi by a factional executive council of the party for ‘anti-party’ activities among other allegations.
However, the national caretaker committee weighed in and asked both parties to sheathe their swords and ordered the immediate nullifications of actions by the aggrieved parties.
But in a related development, another group of eight people, led by Senator Tony Adeniyi had alleged that Governor Fayemi is trying to interfere with the judicial process against him.
Fapohunda said on Saturday that the allegation that “Fayemi unilaterally changed the venue of the sitting of the Court of Appeal, Ekiti State Division in an election matter, cannot but make one speechless.”
, “Where will Governor Fayemi get the power to simply move the venue of sittings of the Court of Appeal out of Ekiti State to another state to deliver a judgment?
“It is necessary that we pursue the matter to its logical conclusion, which will include seeking a retraction from Senator Adeniyi and his colleagues.
“Senator Adeniyi is a senior and distinguished lawyer and one of our finest lawyers from Ekiti State, indeed, he was recently shortlisted for the award of a senior advocate, it, therefore, simply beats my imagination that he will append his signature to such obvious mind-boggling allegation.”
