VETERAN Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo, has cautioned women calling men ‘scum’.

According to Hilda, women don’t know if they’ll be the mother of the next scum. “You don’t know if you’re going to be the mother of the next scum”, she said.

The actress went on to say that it’s inappropriate to blame an entire gender for something one member of the group did wrong to you.

She continued, “Some things are just very annoying. You all know that I have boys; my mother also gave birth to boys. I have a lot of friends who have only sons and no daughter, then you sit in your house and say ‘All men are scums’. You are calling our life investments scums. Are you for real? In fact when did he become a scum. You were dating him, he asked you out, you followed him. Then, something went wrong and suddenly he is a scum. Have you asked yourself why you attracted the scum? Maybe you too, there is something ‘scumy’ about you.

“There are lots of ill-mannered people out there, male or female. There are lots of girls who break hearts without blinking twice and same as guys too. However, that doesn’t make either of them scum. It doesn’t. It just means that the relationship didn’t work for the two of you. What didn’t work for two of you, might work for two other people. So, you don’t look at a full grown man and call him a scum because a relationship didn’t work out.”

The video has since generated mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Hilda Dokubo is a Nigerian award-winning actress, activist, and youth advocate who once worked as Peter Odili’s special adviser on youth affairs.
