SUPER Eagles striker Simeone ‘Simy’ Nwankwo will be playing in Serie A in the 2021/2022 season after securing a move away from Crotone.
The towering centre forward scored 20 league goals for Crotone last season but it was not enough to prevent them from going down from Serie A as they finished second from bottom in the table.
The Nigeria international stated his desire to play top flight football in the new season, and Crotone promised to let him go if a suitable offer came for him.
That offer was made by newly promoted Salernitana, who have reached a deal with Crotone to sign the 29-year-old.
Although it is yet to be officially announced, reliable outlets in Italy reported late Thursday night Salernitana completed the deal with Crotone for Simy at €6m plus a sell-on clause.
Simy had other offers from abroad but he was keen to remain in Italy, therefore the Salernitana deal was the most appealing.
Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia reported that the deal included performance-related bonuses.
There will also be a 10 per cent cut of any future transfer fee going to Crotone, according to Sky Sport Italia.
Simy has played four times for the Super Eagles but is yet to score for the national team.
