Super Eagles players test negative for COVID-19

ALL the players of the Super Eagles are free of COVID-19, new tests have revealed.

The players took the tests after playing against Algeria on Friday, in accordance with health guidelines.

All 25 players in the team’s camp in Austria took the compulsory test and the results were received on Tuesday morning.

The Nigerian team will face Tunisia in another friendly on Tuesday night at the Jacques Lemans Arena, four days after their defeat to African champions Algeria.

“Ahead of tonight’s friendly game against Tunisia, all @NGSuperEagles players  have tested negative to COVID19. #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong,” the Super Eagles announced via their Twitter account on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two Tunisian players Ferjani Sassi and Seifeddine Khaoui tested positive for COVID-19 after their match against Sudan on Friday.

The results were released on Sunday and the players are out of the friendly with Nigeria.

The African teams are using this FIFA international window to play friendly matches in preparation for November’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Nigeria last met with Tunisia at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, the Super Eagles winning the third-place match 1-0.
