REPORTS in Italy are suggesting that Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs seriously interested in Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu.
Arsenal had earlier been linked with the Nigeria international, who is currently in hot form at KRC Genk.
Onuachu, 27, scored 33 goals for Genk in the Belgian Pro League last season and has already struck 11 times in just 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
Italian website Calciomercato claimed on Wednesday night that the Italian champions Inter Milan and Spanish champions Atletico Madrid are both very keen on adding the towering Nigerian to their squads as early as January.
His height of 6 feet 7 inches is said to be the main attraction, which has brought about comparisons with current Inter centre-forward Edin Dzeko and former San Siro player and Onuachu’s compatriot Nwankwo Kanu.
Former Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez is widely expected to leave Inter in January, and Onuachu could be recruited to replace the Chilean.
However, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal are ready to pay the €25m asking price, which is a huge sticking point for the Italians.
Spanish outlet Marca reported on Wednesday that Atletico Madrid and their sporting director Andrea Berta have already made contact with Genk about Onuachu, planning to him partner Luis Suarez in their attack
Onuachu, who joined Genk in 2019 from FC Midtjylland, recently extended his contract to June 2024.
