THE First Lady of Lagos State Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has said she has confidence in the Super Falcons ahead of their clash against the Black Queens.
The Nigerian ladies face Ghana in Accra on Sunday in the second leg of their 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie.
The Super Falcons won the first leg 2-0 in Lagos on Wednesday and Mrs Sanwo-Olu has charged Nigerians to support the team in their quest to complete the victory on aggregate.
“I am here to commend you for the victory over the Black Queens in the first leg and to assure you of support for the second leg match coming up in Accra on Sunday. I have the belief that you will make Nigeria proud,” Sanwo-Olu said during a surprise visit to the team at their training session inside the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan on Friday morning.
Sanwo-Olu, who was a regular attendant at the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament in Lagos last month, has a keen supporter of the Super Falcons in recent months.
She praised captain Asisat Oshoala, who is an indigene of Lagos State, for being a role model to the girl-child with her commitment.
“You are indeed an inspiration to the girl-child and we are proud of you.”
The Super Falcons are expected to fly into Accra on Saturday morning aboard a chartered Air Peace jet for Sunday’s encounter.
The team will have their official training at the Accra Sports Stadium at 4pm Ghana time (5pm Nigeria time) on Saturday.
The winners of the tie on aggregate will reach the final round of the qualifiers for the 2022 Women’s AFCON.
