LAGOS: Sanwo-Olu promises safe, secured state

GOVERNOR Sanwo-Olu today said the state is still pressing ahead with its Security Trust Fund’s vision of making the state, the safest, most secure and prosperous commercial nerve centre in Africa.   

He stated this at the 15th annual town hall meeting on Security with the theme:”Reconceptualizing Safety and Security”.   

The governor said the state government and the State Security Trust Fund has spent over N3b on security with the active support of the private sector. 

Sanwo-Olu restated that his administration was committed to programmes, policies and projects targeted at socio-economic development, creation of jobs, opportunities, prosperity and the sustenance of hope in the hearts and lives of people in the state. 

He said in line with the vision of 21 century megacity, the state would deliver a call centre that is truly responsive, just as it is reorganizing the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety agency to ensure a greater Lagos.

ThE governor called for support to collectively tackle cultism, bullying in schools and other social vices.

Stakeholders at the  event commended the state government for improving the security architecture in the state and pledged their continuous supports to tackle security  challenges in the state. 

On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu confirmed that over the last one year, cases of crime within the state has reduced with the efforts of all security agencies. 

According to him, no bank robbery was recorded, 59 stolen vehicles were recovered, 215 murder suspects were prosecuted, among other crime related activities
