NATIONAL: Maina extradited from Niger Republic

FORMER chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team Abdulrasheed Maina was this afternoon extradited to Nigeria from Niger Republic to face trial for alleged fraud and money laundering.

Commissioner of Police in charge of INTERPOL told journalists in Abuja that Maina was brought back to Nigeria on the directive of the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu.

A message from the Force headquarters also said Maina was extradited today, December 3 from Niamey, capital city of Niger Republic.

The aircraft that brought him was said to have landed at the airport at 2:15 pm, and he was received by the police at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Maina will be expected to appear in court soon to continue his trial for alleged money laundering to the tune of N2 billion.
