NIGERIA’s Tobi Amusan was one of the big winners on Sunday at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Silesia, Poland, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting.

She sprinted to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.64 seconds, beating Jamaica’s Megan Tapper (12.75s) and USA’s Christina Clemons (12.92s).

Amusan, who narrowly missed out on a medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics by placing fourth in the 100m hurdles final, was the favourite for Sunday’s race and she delivered.

Also on Sunday in Silesia, Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce continued her fine post-Olympics form with a comfortable 10.81s 100m victory.

It was a Polish all-comers’ record, breaking the 10.93 mark set by Ewa Kasprzyk in 1986.

Two-time Olympic 100m champion Fraser-Pryce crossed the line well ahead of Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambundji (11.08s) and Britain’s Daryll Neita (11.15s).

Home girl and Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Maria Andrejczyk set a meeting record to win the women’s javelin event with a throw of 61.77m, which gave her victory over USA’s Maggie Malone (61.46m) and Australia’s Kelsey-Lee Barber (60.61m).

Italy’s Elena Vallortigara secured victory in the women’s high jump via her first-time clearance of 1.96m, with Ukraine’s Iryna Herashchenko second with 1.94m and Poland’s Kamila Licwinko third with 1.91m.

Portugal’s Auriol Dongmo edged a close contest in the women’s shot put, her best of 19.32m giving her the win by one centimetre ahead of USA’s Maggie Ewen.

Ukraine’s Viktoriya Tkachuk won a thrilling race in the women’s 400m hurdles, beating USA’s Nnenya Hailey 54.18 to 54.21, with Ukraine’s Anna Ryzhykova third in 54.25.

Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos set a meeting record of 48.50s to win the men’s 400m hurdles race, beating Turkey’s Yasmani Copello (48.80s) and Jamaica’s Jaheel Hyde (48.89s).

Olympic 200m champion Andre De Grasse overcame a shaky start to come through and take victory over the same distance in 20.21 (0.2m/s) ahead of fellow Canadian Jerome Blake (20.32).
