BRIGHTON had several missed opportunities but failed to beat Arsenal in their Premier League clash at the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening.
The fixture ended 0-0 with hosts Brighton the more comfortable and confident side against their more illustrious visitors, but
Graham Potter’s side lacked the cutting edge to finish off any of their numerous opportunities.
Defender Dan Burn headed Brighton’s best chance over the crossbar from point-blank range in the first half, with Leandro Trossard and Neal Maupay also failing to capitalise on good openings.
Shane Duffy then headed against the side-netting from Pascal Gross’s corner as the Seagulls outplayed but could not outscore the Gunners, who had won their three previous Premier League games.
Arsenal also had their chances, with their best first-half opportunity falling to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who headed the ball against the post from Bukayo Saka’s cross.
Emile Smith Rowe also shot straight at Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in a rare second-half attack as Arsenal stayed unbeaten in four matches after losing their first three Premier League fixtures.
Brighton, who would have gone to the top of the standings with a win, are fifth with 14 points, four places and and four points ahead of Arsenal.
In Italy, Super Eagles defender Ola Aina was in Torino’s starting line-up as they lost the Turin derby 1-0 to Juventus.
Aina was substituted off in the 65th minute, 21 minutes before Manuel Locatelli scored the game’s only goal.
Juventus moved up to eighth in the Serie A table with 11 points, while Torino slipped to 11th with eight points.
