TOTTENHAM Hotspur have fired their manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
The club announced the sacking on Monday, less than 48 hours after their 3-0 Premier League defeat at home to Manchester United.”The Club can today announce that Nuno Espírito Santo and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have been relieved of their duties,” Spurs stated on their official website.Although Tottenham Hotspur started brilliantly under Nuno by winning their first three Premier League matches this season, they won only two of the seven that followed and lost five. The club’s Managing Director Fabio Paratici said: “I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision.“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”Nuno, who resigned from Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season, replaced fellow Portuguese Jose Mourinho as permanent manager at Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of the 2021/2022 season.Tottenham are currently eighth in the Premier League table with 15 points from 10 matches, 10 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
