REJECTED Stone, a play written by Lekan Balogun, directed by Seun Awobajo, is set to tour campuses of universities in the South West that offers theatre and allied courses.
Produced by the Footprint of David (FOD), the play is about a young girl named, Igbayilola who lost her family at a very tender age and increasingly got abused and maltreated by her very own step-mother, Niniola; she got deprived of freedom, thus she started hearing and seeing from the other world…
A foretaste of the performance is set to hold Saturday February 26 at the FOD’s base, Seaside Cottage Theater, 54 Ajayi Olaiya street off Obadiah street Ilaje Bariga, Lagos.
The play, says the director, is a 60-minute action packed performance.
The tour expected to start in April and end September, 2022.
“Rejected Stone was chosen for the Southwest higher institution tour because of its message of restoration of cultural values,” states Awobajo, founder of FOD.

On the tour, he says, “the decision was made basically to “raise funds for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Senior Secondary Certificate Examination and Joint Admission & Matriculation, Common Entrance Examination for the cast and crew of the production.
“Hence, donations from the audience to encourage the children more.”
Continued, Awobajo, “Footprints of David (FOD) is an art foundation founded by Seun Awobajo in the year, 2005 at Ilaje, Bariga Lagos State. Its aims is rescuing the future of Bariga children from the highly toxic environmental vices, by using the very essence of the predominant Yoruba and African Culture at large to distract these ‘Great’ children from the limitation that is supposedly staring them in the face.
“An arm of the foundation is to provides free and fully-funded education for the children by establishing Bright Achievers’ School that has over 600 students spanning through crèche to the Senior Secondary School.
“Amazingly these children’s talent has spurred them to different places to harness big opportunities to preach the relevance of culture and moral, even as it challenges grownups and established practitioners in the same career signature, of which we have never taken for granted.”
Awobajo says the tour is modelled after the L’arinjo Theatre tradition of the preeminent Yoruba folk performers with their style of “preaching relevance and morals in the time of the popular hero, Hubert Ogunde.”
