UK-based film scholar, Iwowo to serve as mentor at iREP 2022

UNITED KINGDOM-based Nigerian film scholar, Dr Samantha Iwowo has been announced as one of the mentors at the 2022 iREP International Documentary Film Festival, holding Thursday March 17 – Sunday March 20 at the Freedom Park, Lagos and virtually.

Dr Iwowo will be special guest mentor on the iREP/Orange Exchange Program, which over the years, has become a regular prominent feature of Orange Academy’s flagship course, Integrated Brand Experience, IBE.

Designed in partnership with the iREP Festival, the IBE “supports young African creatives to explore the power of documentary-storytelling, as driver of positive social change,” said a statement from the programme directorate of the festival.

The statement continues, “Each year, the iREP/Orange Exchange Programme features international guest-speakers who share their (experiential) knowledge of documentary filmmaking, with brand storytellers of Orange Academy. Thus, our tradition continues on 19th of March 2022, with a programme of events, featuring Samantha Iwowo (Ph.D), as Guest-Speaker.”

Iwowo is a multiple award-winning screenwriter, director, researcher and Senior-Lecturer at Bournemouth University, United Kingdom. Her works include Oloibiri (2016), and screenwriting on Tinsel (2008- present), and evocative paper on neo-Nollywood, “The Problematic Mise en Scène of Neo-Nollywood (2018).
