The Chairman, Nigeria Football Federation Task Force on youth competitions, Alhahi Aminu Balele Kurfi, has offered a cash incentive to the Olympic Eagles ahead of their U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Tanzania.
The Nigerian side are away to Tanzania on Saturday, with the return leg fixed for the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan a week later.
Kurfi has promised to reward the team with $20,000 if they beat Tanzania in the first leg of the tie in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
He made the pledge at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos while speaking with the team tonight shortly before their departure for Tanzania aboard a Kenyan Airways flight.
The Katsina State-born football administrator charged the Olympic Eagles to make Nigerians proud by ensuring that they beat their Tanzanian counterparts on Saturday.
Kurfi also conveyed the goodwill messages of sports minister Sunday Dare and NFF president Ibrahim Gusau to the team while assuring them that Nigerians are fully behind them.
U-23s head coach Salisu Yusuf thanked the Katsina State FA chairman for encouraging the team and promised that the boys will give their best in the showdown with Tanzania.
Team captain Success Makanjuola stated that the players are highly motivated and will go all out to secure victory on Saturday.
