A community leader and member of the Fityanul Islam First Aid Group, Igabi Local chapter, was killed alongside his nephew by alleged bandits at his home in Unguwar Mai Awo village Kaduna State.
Reports reveal that the bandits attacked the village near Maraban Jos on the Kaduna-Zaria route, where they also kidnapped four other women, among them a nursing mother.
Local sources reveal that the incident took place early today.
The event was confirmed to Daily Trust by an area youth leader named Adam Unguwar Awo.
He noted that when the bandits arrived in the area, they shot randomly to frighten the residents away.
He added that two more villagers were injured and transferred to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
“The bandits killed Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi who is a community leader and also a Chairman of Fityanul Islam First Aid group of the area and his nephew Zakari Yau. Four women including a nursing mother were also abducted by the bandits from the community” he said.
When contacted, the State Police Command’s public relations officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, said he would call back once he had more information about the incident from the scene, but he had not yet done so as of the time this report was being filled.
