Elections: NFF president Gusau hails Balele, Ubah, Adams over National Assembly victories

NIGERIA Football Federation Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has sent messages of congratulations to three prominent members of the country’s football fraternity who won in the general elections held on Saturday.

Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi, the Chairman of the Katsina State Football Association, who is also Chairman of the NFF Committee on Youth Competitions, was elected into the House of Representatives from the Dutsin-ma/Kurfi Federal Constituency of Katsina State on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Running on the platform of Labour Party, the General Manager of Nigeria Premier Football League club Remo Stars, Ekene Abubakar Adams, also won a seat to the House of Representatives from the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.

Also elected is the Proprietor of FC IfeanyiUbah and former member of the Organising Committee for the Africa Cup of Nations, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.

Ubah returns to the Senate after winning the Anambra South Senatorial District under the flag of Young Peoples’ Party..

“We are happy at the triumphs of these members of the Nigerian football family. We heartily congratulate them and wish them the very best as they become federal legislators, with the opportunities to initiate legislation that will favour football and other sectors of Nigerian life,” Gusau said in an NFF press release today.

“We will continue to pray for them so that God will give them the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to work assiduously for the development and real growth of Nigerian football while in the 10th session of the National Assembly.”
