THREE Nigerian police officers were dismissed after they were found firing into the air while securing the praise singer for President Muhammadu Buhari, Dauda Kahutu Rarara.
According to a statement released by the Nigerian Police today, the three officers seen in a viral video were dismissed following an orderly room trial.
“The trio, Inspr. Dahiru Shuaibu, Sgt. Abdullahi Badamasi, and Sgt. Isah Danladi were attached to a musician in Kano on escort duties.
“Three officers from the SPU Base 1 Kano have been dismissed for the offences of discreditable conduct to wit misuse of firearms, abuse of power, gross indiscipline, and wastage of live ammunition,” the statement reads in part.
Rarara, a Hausa musician shot into limelight with “masu gudu su gudu,” a campaign jingle for Buhari in 2015. He has also waxed campaign jingles for other APC governors across northern states.
Last week, a video of Rarara being guarded by armed police officers who fired into the air at a fun fair while his fans cheered him went viral on Twitter, drawing criticism from the Nigerian public.
