The ex-defence chief urged residents to refrain from actions that would weaken the Nigerian military, noting that it serves as a symbol of hope, unity, and stability that must be safeguarded.
He expressed confidence that his successor would be able to surpass the previous military milestones.
Present at the event include: Senior military officers, previous Chiefs of Defense Staff, Boss Mustapha, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State.
In 2021, General Abayomi Olonisakin was replaced by Irabor as the Chief of Defence Staff by then-President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Tinubu dismissed all of the existing service chiefs and appointed new ones, while ending his time as the defense minister on June 19, 2023.
The President replaced Gen. Irabor with Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, who is now the the Acting Chief of Defence Staff pending confirmation by the National Assembly.
