PRESIDENT Patrice Talon of the Benin Republic has arrived in Abuja for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Talon arrived at the Villa at 4:43 p.m. which is his second visit to Abuja in nine days.He was there on July 18 with two other colleague-presidents, Mohamed Bazoum of Niger and Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau.
According to a source close to the West African country’s leader, the meeting follows reports of Bazoum being held by disgruntled members of the elite Presidential Guard, who in turn were given an “ultimatum” by the army.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), of which Tinubu is Chairman, has since condemned the “attempted coup” and urged the “plotters” to free Bazoum immediately and unconditionally.
