Victor Ekpuk’s sculpture, ‘Passage to Promise’, unveiled at Dubai’s Design District D3 .

“PASSAGE to Promise,” a sculpture by the US-based Nigerian artist, Victor Ekpuk, has been formally unveiled at Dubai’s Design District D3.

A  300cm x 400cm x 0.16cm Painted Aluminium piece., the interactive aluminium installation is covered in Ekpuk’s signature Nsibidi-inspired symbolic script, which invites viewers to engage with its concave shape and walk through its human-shaped doorway.

In the words of the artist, “If I can, I want my works to be starting points for dialogue, new discoveries into the differences and commonalities among cultures.”

It is curated and presented by Efiɛ Gallery, which states that the work was created for the inaugural edition of Dubai’s Calligraphy Biennale, curated by Fatma Abdulla Al Quarshi (@fatmalqurashi), and will be on public display until October 31.
