SUNDAY, October 29, the crème of African film workers and patrons will converge on Lagos to partake of the rich offerings of the African Movie Academy Award, 2023.

The legacy project of the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe fondly referred to as “Nollywood Amazon”, AMAA 2023 is the 19th edition and it is being officially hosted by the Lagos State Government.  This is in realisation of the promise made by the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the 17th edition held at the Marriot Hotel in Ikeja in 2021.

On the preparations ahead of the awards ceremony, Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, speaking on behalf of the board of AMAA, said, “We are happy that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has restated his commitment towards hosting the AMAAs for the second year in a row. He is not only making true his promise last year but has also displayed the traits of a true leader. The strategic partnership between AMAA and Lagos state is exemplary.

“The AMAA team has already been working with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the execution of a successful awards ceremony.”

According to Tony Anih, Chief Operating Officer, and  Kingsley James, the awards ceremony’s content director and show producer, activities for the 2023 awards ceremony, include a pre-award nomination party for nominees and the award ceremony where 26 AMAA diadems will be handed out to winners of the twenty-six categories of the award.
