GUNMEN kidnapped Cross River traditional ruler, Etiyin Maurice Edet and killed one of his aides, police in the South-South state revealed today.
According to Irene Ugbo, spokesman for the states police command, the traditional ruler of Akpabuyo Local Government Area in the state was abducted yesterday night at his residence in the council area.
She said that the traditional ruler’s aide was killed in the process, but that efforts have been put in place to ensure the abductee’s release.
The police image maker did not clarify whether the abductors demanded money or contacted the abductee’s family.
The kidnapping of this ruler is the most recent in a series of attacks against traditional rulers around the country.
