THE Supreme Court has reserved judgment in an appeal filed by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, seeking to reverse the Court of Appeal’s decision that annulled his election.

After hearing arguments from both sides of the appeal, a five-member panel of justices led by Justice John Okoro withheld judgment.

The governor, through his attorney, Kanu Agabi, asked the court to affirm the Tribunal’s decision and overturn the appeal court’s decision, stating that the respondents had no jurisdiction to contest how a party elects its state executvess.

He stated that the defendants (Nentawe Goshwe and the All Progressives Congress) cannot argue that the governor did not receive the number of legitimate votes assigned to him while also claiming that the election was invalid.

The APC and its candidate, on their part, alleged that Mutfwang’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is disobeying a lawful court order that mandated them to conduct congress in 17 local governments but only conducted in five before the March governorship election.
