EL-KANEMI Warriors have won the men’s President Federation Cup trophy while Rivers Angels claimed the women’s prize in finals played today at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
El-Kanemi, newly promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League, defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 in the men’s final, with Rivers Angels cementing their status as giants with a 1-0 victory over Naija Ratels.
Nasiru Salihu netted both goals for El-Kanemi Warriors in the one-sided men’s final, scoring in the 32nd and 68th minutes to steering the Maiduguri club to their fourth trophy in the competition.
Abia Warriors, seeking their first triumph in the competition, missed a penalty and an opportunity to get back into the contest.
In the women’s final earlier in the day, Blessing Okpe scored the only goal as Rivers Angels claimed a record-extending ninth Cup success.
Naija Ratels defender Adebayo Jumai handled the ball in the box and Okpe stepped up to convert the penalty in first half added time.
