THE 2022 edition of the annual Zuma Film Festival (ZUFF) begins April 2 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Nigeria.
Towards a successful festival, the management of the promoting agency, Nigeria Film Corporation, NFC, on Thursday March 3 inaugurated 16 sub-committees with a call on members to bring their experiences to bear in the discharge of their duties.
Held in the Conference Room of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), the inauguration jointly performed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Olusade Adesola and Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, Managing Director/CEO, Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC).,
Adesola, speaking before the inauguration, said the FCTA’s decision to collaborate with the Nigerian Film Corporation and subsequently designate Abuja as the Official Host City of the Film Festival was deliberate and well thought out,” said a statement from NFC’s Director, Public Affairs, Brian Etuk.
The statement continues, “The action, among others was geared towards promoting SME development and up-scaling the Socio-economic well-being of residents of Abuja, and beyond. He assured of FCTA’s commitment to support the partnership and the committees, and as well ensure that the Festival is successfully hosted.”
Adesola listed 16 sub-committees with joint membership of the NFC and FCTA officials, and few others to play advisory roles. The Committees are: the Central Workng Committee, Finance, Jury/Film screening, Investiture, Mobilisation, Press/Publicity among others. Adesola charged members of the various committees to hit the ground running, and advised them to discharge their responsibilities to the fullest.

The NFC MD, Dr. Maduekwe, in his remarks, noted that the collaborative gesture between the FCTA and the NFC would make the mandate of galvanizing and developing Nigeria’s Film industry some more easier. He added that ZUFF 2022 under the auspices of the FCTA and NFC would be globally attractive.
“Dr. Maduekwe was optimistic of a successful ZUFF 2022. He applauded the inauguration of the Committees, saying it definitely would ramp up preparations for the Festival and enjoined the Committee on publicity to swing into, and deepen actions that will create the necessary awareness within Nigeria and beyond.”
“Conveying her appreciation for a successful inauguration of the Sub-committees, Secretary, Social Development FCTA, Hajia Hadiza Kabir expressed confidence in the ability of members of the committees to deliver on their mandates in record time. She thanked the Hon. Minister and the Hon. Minister of State, FCTA for their foresight in accepting and supporting the collaboration for ZUFF, especially given the associated positive impact it will have on FCT as the host city.”
