TWO Premier League clubs, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, are set to go to battle for the signature of Ola Aina, reports in England and Italy have claimed.

The Super Eagles defender is currently at Serie A side Torino, with one year left on his contract.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning that Leeds United were the first to show interest before Nottingham Forest joined in the chase for the versatile defender.

Although Leeds United have already signed full-back Rasmus Kristensen for the new season, they are still seriously interested in Aina, Sport Witness reported today.

The 25-year-old has been tracked by Leeds United for some time, with Forest now joining in for the Nigerian who can play both full-back positions as well as wing-back.

Gazzetta dello Sport described former Chelsea starlet Aina as a player whose ‘potential is high’ and has shown he has room to develop into a much better footballer.

The Italian outlet added that Aina, who played on loan at Fulham in the 2020/2021 season, is ‘closely watched’ by both Leeds and Nottingham Forest during this transfer window,

While Leeds United need Aina to boost their defensive options, Forest are in need of a new right-back with Carl Jenkinson leaving the club.

Aina was in and out of the Torino team last season, losing his starting spot after attending the Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles in January.

He made 23 appearances in all competitions, 21 of them in Serie A.
