KYLIAN Mbappe is on course to achieving two big personal feats in Sunday’s Qatar 2022 World Cup final at the Lusail Stadium in Doha.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward is France’s main threat in attack as they seek to retain their World Cup title in a final battle against Argentina.
Mbappe is currently the joint-top scorer in Qatar along with Lionel Messi, both having scored five goals each in their countries’ runs to the grand finale.
With one goal in Sunday’s clash, the 23-year-old could kill two birds with one stone.
If Messi does not score, one more goal for Mbappe would hand the Frenchman the Golden Boot for the tournament’s top scorer.
A goal on Sunday too would make Mbappe one of only five men in history to have scored in two World Cup finals.
At present, Vava (1958 and 1962), Pele (1958 and 1970), Paul Breitner (1974 and 1982) and Zinedine Zidane (1998 and 2006) are the only men to have scored in two World Cup finals.
Mbappe has been one of the standout performers in Qatar, and he is also in the running for the Golden Ball for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, along with Messi, his PSG teammate.
