FCT: Gunmen kill one, kidnap two others

THE Federal Capital Territory Police Command has initiated a manhunt today after gunmen believed to be kidnappers abducted Goodluck Ogundare and Janet Ogundare and killed Benjamin Ogundare in the Ushafa neighborhood of the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

According to information obtained by newsmen today, the shooters targeted an apartment behind the Local Government Education Authority Primary School adjacent to Going-Park between the hours of 1:00 am and 1:30 am in the morning.

Sources reveal that Ogundare, the deceased, fought the attackers before he was killed and his relatives kidnapped.

Confirming the incident, the FCT PPRO, Josephine Adeh, said, “On Wednesday, January 11, at about 06:00 am, the Police Control Room received a distress call that armed hoodlums, stormed Ushafa village via the Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

“The information was relayed to the Bwari Divisional Police Headquarters and other security apparatus of the Command around the area mobilized tactical and intelligence assets to the scene.

“Upon sighting the officers, the hoodlums took to their heels having shot one Benjamin Ogundare and abducted the duo of Goodluck Ogundare and Janet Ogundare.

“The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on call. An aggressive hunt and rescue mission has been launched on the tails of the hoodlums while the investigation continues.”
