MANCHESTER United have sealed the loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, hours after they completed the loan arrival of Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur.

Morocco international Amrabat was signed tonight, with an hour before transfer deadline, on a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent.

Manchester United will pay Fiorentina a loan fee of €10 million, with the option to buy the midfielder for €20m and €5m in add-ons.

“Sofyan Amrabat has joined Manchester United on loan from ACF Fiorentina until June 2024, subject to international clearance and registration requirements,” the Red Devils announced tonight on their official website.

“The midfielder has been capped 49 times by Morocco and played every minute of his country’s run to the semi-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.”

Amrabat played a key role last season as
Fiorentina reached the final of the Coppa Italia and UEFA Europa Conference League, where they lost to Inter Milan and West Ham United respectively.

Amrabat, who reportedly rejected several other offers throughout the transfer window, said: “It is a huge honour to become a Manchester United player.

“I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams.

“I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.

“I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players.

“His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career

“I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season.”

Manchester United Football Director, John Murtough, said: “We have tracked Sofyan for a long time, so we are really pleased to bring him to Manchester United. His committed, high-energy approach to the game fits perfectly with the group that we are building here.

“We know that Sofyan’s mentality, dynamism and technical qualities will help the squad as we look to achieve success in all competitions this season.”

Reguilon, who has had experience at Real Madrid and Sevilla, has been signed as cover at left-back with both Luke Shaw and Tyler Malacia out with long-term injuries.

The Spanish defender said: “In life you have to be ready for everything and the chance to represent this great club with such an illustrious history is one that I could not turn down.

“Having spoken to the manager, I know what he needs from me, and I am ready to play my part in helping the team to achieve success.

“I know that I can contribute to Manchester United this season; I am ready to fight for this group and show everyone my qualities.”

Murtough said about the Reguilon deal: “Once it became clear that we needed to bring in another left-back we assessed a number of targets and acted quickly to sign Sergio. He possesses all the required qualities to help us achieve our aims this season.

“He has good experience in both the Premier League and in European competitions, so he is ready to come into the squad and perform straight away.”

Interestingly, Reguilon had been linked with Manchester United previously, but back then he ended up joining Tottenham Hotspur.

There are reports that there is a break clause in the deal for the left-back that would allow Manchester United to end the loan in January, in case Shaw and Malacia are back fit by then.
